MONROVIA, Liberia — Former Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Commissioner General Elfrieda Stewart Tamba has called for greater transparency in the ongoing controversy surrounding the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), urging authorities to address specific claims involving a vehicle allegedly linked to the agency.
Tamba said the LDEA’s recent statement failed to adequately respond to fundamental questions surrounding the vehicle referenced in videos circulating publicly.
She questioned whether the vehicle, identified by its license plates, is part of the LDEA convoy and asked when and how the agency acquired it.
“The LDEA needs to respond to the specific claims,” Tamba said, urging the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to establish the veracity of the allegations and provide the public with clear answers.
According to her, resolving the issue should be a priority because of its potential impact on the credibility of both the investigation and members of the institutions involved.
Tamba also appealed to Justice Minister and Attorney General to ensure that the matter is properly addressed, saying the Liberian public is looking to the Ministry of Justice for answers.
She further encouraged activist Martin K. N. Kollie to share documents and videos related to his claims directly with U.S. agents providing technical support to Liberia’s investigation.
Tamba’s comments come amid growing public demands for transparency and accountability in the country’s ongoing drug investigation.
