Former Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Deputy Director General for Operations, Hassan Fadiga, has called on Liberia National Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman to recuse himself from the ongoing investigation into major drug busts in Liberia.
In a public appeal addressed to Coleman, Fadiga said his call was not intended as a personal attack but rather as a plea for transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the investigation.
“IG Coleman, my Bassa brother, this is not a personal attack. It is an appeal for transparency, accountability, and public confidence,” Fadiga wrote.
He urged the Police Inspector General to voluntarily step aside, arguing that such a decision would not amount to an admission of wrongdoing but could help protect the credibility and integrity of the investigative process.
Fadiga said Liberians deserve an investigation that is both fair and perceived by the public to be fair, without doubts, suspicions or the appearance of a conflict of interest.
“Sometimes, true leadership means stepping aside to protect the greater good,” he concluded.
The call comes amid heightened public scrutiny surrounding Liberia’s ongoing investigations into major drug-related cases and the roles of national security institutions.
