A major jailbreak occurred Sunday at Kakata Central Prison in Margibi County, with several inmates escaping, including Tony Obina, a notorious Nigerian drug kingpin.
Obina has since been recaptured by community dwellers and authorities, while he was escaping.
A 12-member jury at the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Margibi County found Tony Obi and two LDEA agents Guilty of Drug Trafficking on September 8, 2026.
The case involved a cocaine bust valued at US$181,008 and more than LD$63.2 million. The jury returned the guilty verdict following closing arguments from state prosecutors and defense lawyers.
