BO-WATERSIDE, September 22, 2026 — Officers from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) apprehended a 41-year-old Sierra Leonean national on Tuesday afternoon after intercepting a substantial quantity of controlled substances at the Bo-Waterside border crossing.
The suspect, identified as Philip Lumeh, a resident of Jendema, Sierra Leone, was taken into custody at approximately 1:30 PM at Gate-2 during a routine border inspection.
According to border officials, a search of Lumeh’s green bag uncovered 157 strips of Tapentadol and Tramadol. The LDEA estimates the market value of the confiscated drugs at nearly 400,000 Liberian dollars (exceeding $2,000 USD).
LDEA authorities confirmed that Lumeh is currently held for questioning. Following a preliminary investigation, he will be formally processed and forwarded to court for prosecution.
