“Outrageously False and Despicable,” MDR Rejects Senator Dillon’s Claim of Presidential Neglect

The National Democratic Reformation (NDR), the political party of the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson, has vehemently dismissed recent claims by Senator Abraham Darius Dillon. Dillon alleged that the late Nimba County Senator was neglected by the presidency and lacked proximity to President Joseph Boakai before his demise.

Senator Dillon’s assertions, viewed by many as politically motivated, have drawn sharp criticism, particularly from partisans of the ruling Unity Party. During his testimony, Dillon recounted a conversation he had with Senator Johnson, in which the late Senator reportedly pleaded with him to ask President Boakai to secure a job for his daughter.

Senator Dillon claimed he intended to deliver the message during a memorial service in Buchanan but was unable to do so as news of Senator Johnson’s death emerged before the event.

In a strongly worded press release, the NDR refuted Dillon’s claims, describing them as baseless and defamatory. The party accused Dillon of attempting to exploit a period of national mourning for political gain, stating: “We find these claims to be deeply disrespectful, outrageously false, and a deliberate effort to exploit our grief for political gain. Seeking relevance in such a dark moment of national mourning at the expense of our fallen hero is a disgraceful display of ingratitude and dishonor.”

The party further clarified that the individual mentioned by Dillon, “Crystal Mein,” is a relative of Senator Johnson who is already employed by the Boakai administration in a government ministry.

The NDR accused Dillon and his allies of spreading propaganda designed to tarnish the legacy of Senator Johnson and undermine the relationship between Nimba County citizens and the current administration.

The party emphasized that the late Senator Johnson maintained a close and respectful relationship with President Boakai, and both worked together on multiple occasions to advance Liberia’s development.

“Your unfounded claims that President Boakai abandoned Senator Johnson are not only baseless but also a brazen attack on the truth. Such accusations are rooted in malice and ignorance,” the NDR declared.

The party also condemned the use of what it called “doctored voice recordings and deceitful tactics” to mislead the public, alleging that these actions were amplified by certain factions of the former ruling party.

The NDR urged all parties involved to cease the spread of what it termed as “falsehoods” and instead engage in constructive dialogue that promotes healing and national progress.
“This reckless attempt to deepen divisions has no place in Liberia. We call on leaders to prioritize unity and meaningful discussions that move our nation forward,” the statement read.

In a related development, the NDR confirmed reports of a fatal accident involving one of Senator Johnson’s assigned vehicles on the Margibi-Monrovia highway.

The accident claimed the lives of four individuals, including the late Senator’s brother-in-law and three others who were en route from Ganta to Monrovia. The vehicle had been used by family members preparing for Senator Johnson’s funeral.

As tensions rise in the political arena, the NDR has reiterated its commitment to preserving Senator Johnson’s legacy and ensuring that his contributions to Liberia are not overshadowed by what it describes as unfounded accusations.
