President Joseph Boakai has forwarded two major financing agreements to the Liberian Senate for ratification, seeking legislative approval for projects aimed at expanding digital access and improving road infrastructure.
In separate communications to the Senate, President Boakai requested ratification of a financing agreement between Liberia and the International Development Association (IDA) under the Western Africa Regional Digital Integration Program–Series of Projects 2.
The initiative is intended to strengthen digital connectivity, improve access to technology, and support regional integration across West Africa.
The government says the project will help close the digital gap, improve public services, and create new opportunities for businesses and citizens in a growing digital economy.
President Boakai also submitted a financing agreement for the Salayea-to-Konia Road Upgrade Project, which is expected to improve transportation and boost economic activities in Lofa County and neighboring communities.
The project is supported by the OPEC Fund for International Development and is expected to ease the movement of people and goods while improving access to markets, schools, and health facilities.
Both agreements have been sent to the Senate for review and ratification, as required by law. If approved, they will support the government’s efforts to strengthen Liberia’s digital infrastructure and road network, two sectors seen as vital to the country’s economic growth.
