Virginia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has called for a stronger partnership between the Liberian Government and citizens in the Diaspora, urging Liberians abroad to move from dialogue to concrete action for national development.
Speaking at the 2nd Annual Diaspora Conference in Alexandria on September 26, President Boakai described the Diaspora as Liberia’s “16th County” and “Fifth Estate,” citing its skills, capital, professional networks and international experience.
He outlined five commitments: stronger coordination of the global Liberian community; connecting professional skills to national needs; promoting productive investment; engaging young Liberians abroad; and establishing measurable outcomes for conference recommendations.
Boakai also highlighted the Government’s ARREST Agenda and called for greater Diaspora involvement in education, healthcare, agriculture, technology, infrastructure and investment.
