Liberia Amputee Team Set for 2026 World Cup in Mexico, Drawn in Group “A”

Liberia has been drawn into Group “A” of the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup, alongside Mexico, Italy and Algeria, following the tournament’s official draw ceremony held on September 26, 2026 in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico.

The draw places Liberia among 24 qualified nations set to compete in the global tournament, which will run from November 13 to 22, 2026.

Liberia’s Group “A” campaign will see the country face host Mexico, European side Italy and African side Algeria as the West African nation seeks to make an impact on the international stage.

The 2026 competition returns to Mexico eight years after the country hosted the 2018 edition, also in San Juan de los Lagos. Angola won that tournament, while Türkiye are entering the 2026 edition as defending champions after defeating Angola in the 2022 final in Istanbul.

With the group stage now confirmed, Liberia and the other participating nations are expected to intensify preparations ahead of the November tournament.

The draw marks a significant step toward the competition as teams now know their first-round opponents.
