MONROVIA – The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) has announced the postponement of its planned September 5 protest, citing what it described as President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s initial actions in response to the recent high-profile drug trafficking investigation.
In a press statement issued on August 1, 2026, the group said the decision was made in good faith to allow the government an opportunity to convert recent administrative measures into a credible, transparent, and comprehensive investigation.
CMC emphasized that the protest has been postponed, not cancelled, stressing that its demand for truth and accountability remains unchanged.
“The rally is postponed, not abandoned. Our demand for truth has not changed, and our foot remains firmly on the pedal of accountability,” the organization stated.
The group said it will continue to monitor the government’s response as investigations into the alleged drug trafficking network progress.
