MONROVIA – Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe has praised President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his recent decision to dismiss and suspend several government officials amid ongoing narcotics investigations, describing the move as “a step in the right direction.”
Speaking on the matter, Snowe said Liberia’s drug trafficking challenges did not emerge overnight but developed over several months and years. He stressed that beyond burning seized narcotics and making arrests, authorities must pursue investigations to identify and dismantle the root causes of the problem.
The senator said he would continue to criticize wrongdoing and commend actions that serve the national interest.
Snowe also acknowledged his personal relationship with dismissed Roberts International Airport Deputy Director for Operations Mark Egon Kuiah, describing him as “like a younger brother” and expressing sadness over his situation.
However, he said the President’s decision, despite Kuiah’s reported ties to the First Family, demonstrates a commitment to allowing the investigation to follow the evidence. “I don’t think anyone will be left untouched in this process,” Snowe said.
