Community Pride Grows as Voice of Grand Kru Gets New Look

By Patrick Teah Jr.

A renewed sense of pride is emerging among residents of Grand Kru as the community radio station, Voice of Grand Kru 98.1 FM, takes on a fresh and modern appearance.

A recent view of the station shows a brightly painted structure with clearly marked signage bearing the station’s name, contact details, and location in Barclayville City. The ongoing renovation work, now nearing completion, reflects a significant transformation from what many residents previously described as a neglected facility.

For community members, the facelift goes beyond aesthetics. The station has long served as a vital platform for local voices, information sharing, and public dialogue across Grand Kru County. With the improvements now visible, many believe the upgrade will strengthen communication and bring the station closer to the people it serves.

The project, supported by Nimene T. H. Bartekwa, is being widely appreciated by residents. However, community members are also emphasizing the importance of maintaining the station as an independent voice that represents all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.

Some residents who spoke to this paper noted that while the physical structure is improving, attention should also be given to equipping the station with modern broadcasting tools and ensuring better working conditions for staff.

As the renovation reaches its final stages, Voice of Grand Kru is increasingly being seen as a symbol of unity and progress—where the voices of the people can be heard clearly and confidently.

More updates on the project are expected soon.
