Liberia and Guinea have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening border security and deepening cultural cooperation following a high-level meeting at the Solumba corridor.

The talks brought together officials of the Liberia Immigration Service, led by Deputy Commissioner General Nelsco Aleo Wolo, and a Guinean delegation headed by Lt. Camara Mohammed III of the Guinean National Army.

Discussions focused on enhancing joint border patrols, intelligence sharing, and regular communication to address cross-border threats, including illegal migration and smuggling. Both sides pledged to prioritize dialogue and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.

Officials also highlighted the importance of long-standing cultural and familial ties between border communities, noting that intermarriages and shared traditions continue to foster trust and unity.

Wolo emphasized the need for improved training and institutional capacity, pointing to the role of the Joseph Nymah Boakai Training Academy in strengthening professionalism within the immigration service.

The meeting underscored a shared vision for peace, stability, and regional cooperation, reinforcing the importance of collaboration within the Mano River region.
