County Attorney and Women’s Advocate Cllr. Mmonbeydo Joah Takes Gender Minister to Task after LWSC Managing Director Mo Ali released private data of vulnerable street children

The Minister of Gender, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie, has come under increased public scrutiny and critique for leaking the private information of hundreds of vulnerable street minors to the Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Mr. Mo Ali.

LWSC Managing Director Mo Ali publicly shared the private data of the minors, some of whom are victims of rape and child prostitution, on his Facebook page in an apparent move to politically justify his recent post that they are “helping ordinary citizens as individual government officials and not mean.”

Mr. Mo Ali has since threatened ordinary citizens that before they receive any further “help” from government officials, citizens would be compelled “to sign a receipt which they will make public.” Ali said in his latest post which has exposed hundreds of minors to further danger, “We will even publish names of kids we have taken from the streets and schools they are in.”

The current County Attorney of Sinoe Country and a leading voice for women in Liberia, Cllr. Mmonbeydo Nadine Joah, has criticized the move by MD Ali and Gender Ministe Horace-Kollie as dangerous and very risky to those children.

Cllr. Joah wrote on Ali’s post, “This is dangerous to those children and very risky, Gbeme Horace Kollie.”

A pro-Government supporter Charle Tiah wrote, “MD Mo Ali, this is a violation of data privacy.”

“The sad conditions of hundreds of disadvantaged street children, some of whom are child prostitutes and victims of rape, have now been turned into a political tool by government publicists. Wow. Imagine leaking the data of very vulnerable children who are already at serious risk. Even exposing their schools. Wow,” another commenter said.

What MD Mo Ali failed to tell the public in his Facebook post, which has now placed hundreds of vulnerable children at serious risk, is that “The Save The Future Project” private documents that he released is a project sponsored by UNICEF and GOL budgetary support; and not any personal contribution from him or other public officials.

Now that the privacy of hundreds of vulnerable children at serious risk have been violated and breached, further exposing them to danger. Who accounts for this?

More details to follow. This is a developing story.
