Falling Tree Branch Kills 45-Year-Old Man in River Gee County

By Peter P. Toe, Jr.

WEBBO, River Gee County – A 45-year-old man, Charles Freeman, tragically lost his life after being struck by a falling tree branch in Wlegboken Township, Webbo Statutory District, River Gee County, on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Eyewitnesses reported that Freeman was resting under a tank on his farm after clearing brush when the partially burned branch, which had been burning inside it for days, suddenly gave way and fell onto the tank, fatally striking him.

His widow, Martha Freeman, told investigators that her husband had been burning the tree branch for several days, unaware that it would fall unexpectedly that day.

“He never knew it was going to fall today,” she cried.

A 15-member coroner’s jury, led by local health officials and security personnel, confirmed Freeman’s death.

His body has been turned over to the family for burial.
