MONROVIA, LIBERIA: The vessel carrying the first consignment of Liberia’s 306 agricultural machines and equipment from China has docked at the Freeport of Monrovia, the Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed.
“The ship is in,” the Ministry said, describing the arrival as a major step toward advancing agricultural mechanization in Liberia.
The first consignment includes 24 tractor heads, eight semi-trailers, eight trucks and eight towing vehicles. The second and final consignment, comprising 42 containers, is expected to arrive by September 26.
The equipment will support 13 Agricultural Mechanization Service Centers across six counties, providing farmers access to mechanized farming services at affordable rates.
The initiative is expected to improve land preparation, expand cultivation and boost food production as Liberia transitions from predominantly manual farming toward mechanized agriculture.
