They gave 5,000 bags of Saudi-donated rice to the Bong County Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) for distribution in Bong. Today, the Coordinator testified in Criminal Court “C” and said that he only received 280 bags for distribution in disaster-affected communities in Bong County, and not 5,000 bags of rice.
This suggests that 4,720 bags intended for citizens of Bong were allegedly stolen, diverted, and cannot be accounted for by Kemayah and his co-conspirators.
2) What did Kemayah, co-conspirators say about rice distribution to the Lakpazee Community in Sinkor?
They also said that thousands of bags of Saudi-donated rice were given to the Lakpazee Community through its community chairman Isaac K. Weede. But Weede testified in Court and said neither him nor any resident of Lakpazee community received a single bag of Saudi-donated rice.
The ongoing criminal trial involves a shipment of 29,412 bags that were donated to Liberia by Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia generously aided Liberia with US$2.5 million in 2022.
US$500,000 of that amount was committed to purchasing over 29,000 bags of 25kg rice for disaster-affected communities across Liberia while US$2 million was intended to renovate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To date, Kemayah and his co-conspirators cannot allegedly account. That’s why they are in Court. The first two witnesses have denied.
