Geo-Mining, Inter-Geo Promote Modern Exploration Technology to Unlock Liberia’s Mineral and Petroleum Resources

Geo-Mining and Environmental Consultancy Incorporated and Inter-Geo Mineral Intelligence Limited have called for Liberia to embrace modern exploration technologies to unlock the country’s vast mineral, oil, and gas resources.

Speaking Wednesday during an exhibition on advanced mineral, oil, and gas exploration technologies in Monrovia, Geo-Mining Executive Director Carlos Edison-Tingban said outdated exploration methods continue to slow investment and leave large portions of Liberia’s natural resources undiscovered.

He said Liberia is richly endowed with iron ore, gold, diamonds, lithium, heavy mineral sands, and promising offshore petroleum reserves, but much of the country remains underexplored because of limited geological data.

According to Tingban, technologies such as artificial intelligence, remote sensing, airborne geophysics, geochemical surveys, and advanced mineral detection systems are reshaping the global exploration industry by improving accuracy, reducing costs, limiting environmental impacts, and speeding up discoveries.

“Our objective is not only to introduce modern technology but also to equip Liberians with the knowledge and skills needed to operate these systems, lead exploration projects, and compete in the global mining and petroleum industry,” he said.

Tingban urged the Liberian government, investors, universities, development partners, and companies operating in the extractive sector to strengthen collaboration, promote technology transfer, build local expertise, and encourage responsible investment to ensure the sustainable management of the country’s natural resources.

He also highlighted Geo-Mining’s partnership with Inter-Geo Mineral Intelligence Limited, describing it as a major step toward introducing innovative exploration solutions while creating opportunities for Liberian professionals through training, knowledge sharing, and investment promotion.

Deputy Minister for Administration and Acting Minister of Mines and Energy Eudora Bay-Pritchard said Liberia must embrace digital innovation to improve mineral exploration and expand reliable geological information for sustainable resource development.

She noted that emerging technologies are making exploration more efficient, improving transparency, and supporting responsible management of Liberia’s mineral resources.

“Liberia must remain open to emerging technologies and international best practices to strengthen institutions and attract responsible investment,” Bay-Pritchard said. She encouraged participants to use the conference to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and deepen their understanding of modern exploration technologies that can position Liberia as a competitive destination for mining investment.

Also speaking, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cllr. Jeddi Armah, representing Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, said economic diplomacy remains central to attracting strategic investment, facilitating technology transfer, and promoting sustainable development in Liberia’s mining and energy sectors.

He said the government’s economic diplomacy agenda is focused on expanding trade, attracting quality investment, strengthening national institutions, and building long-term economic value.

“The Government prioritizes investments that build Liberian capacity, strengthen institutions, create lasting value, and support sustainable economic transformation,” Armah said. He added that Liberia’s future prosperity depends on responsible governance of its natural resources, strong institutions, investor confidence, and productive international partnerships.

The exhibition brought together government officials, industry stakeholders, representatives of Geo-Mining and Inter-Geo Mineral Intelligence Limited, and experts from Australia and the United States to showcase advanced technologies that are helping countries identify mineral and petroleum resources more quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively.

Participants said adopting these technologies could significantly enhance Liberia’s ability to unlock its natural resource potential, attract investment, and drive sustainable economic growth.
