MONROVIA — The Government of Liberia has announced a reduction in the prices of gasoline and fuel oil, a move aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers and businesses amid ongoing economic challenges.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in collaboration with the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), disclosed Thursday, June 18, 2026 that the prices of gasoline (PMS) and fuel oil (AGO) have been reduced effective immediately.
According to the new Petroleum Products Monthly Price Circular, gasoline prices have been lowered by US$0.15 per gallon, while fuel oil prices have been reduced by US$0.30 per gallon.
Under the revised pricing structure, the wholesale selling price of gasoline is set at US$4.66, with a retail pump price ceiling of US$4.94 or L$905.00. Fuel oil will be sold at a wholesale price of US$5.97 and a retail pump price ceiling of US$6.25 or L$1,145.00.
The Ministry said the pricing adjustments were calculated using an exchange rate of L$183.1427 to US$1.00, as published by the Central Bank of Liberia on June 15, 2026.
Officials noted that the reduction is expected to bring some relief to motorists, businesses, and households that depend heavily on petroleum products for transportation and operations.
To ensure compliance with the approved prices, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the LPRC Inspectorate Team will intensify monitoring efforts across the country. Authorities warned that they will take steps to prevent arbitrary increases in pump prices, unfair competition among importers, and the hoarding of petroleum products.
The Ministry emphasized that the latest price adjustment reflects the continued cooperation between MOCI and LPRC to maintain price stability and guarantee a steady supply of petroleum products on the Liberian market.
The government expressed optimism that the reduction will contribute to lowering operational costs for businesses and provide some financial relief to consumers nationwide.
