Liberia’s House of Representatives has directed its Sergeant-at-Arms to bring Finance Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan before the Legislature, as a debate over pay gaps between the Executive Branch and lawmakers intensifies.
Legislators are reportedly pressing for equal pay for equal work, arguing that executive officials draw higher salaries and benefits than members of the Legislature.
At the same time, officials from the Central Bank of Liberia are appearing before the House to answer questions about the shortage of Liberian dollars in circulation, along with other pressing economic concerns.
