Cristiano Ronaldo has come out on top of Lionel Messi in a special fan poll run by the Ballon d’Or.
Supporters took part on the award’s official website, selecting which win by a multiple-time winner carried the most significance for them.
The results, released Wednesday evening, saw Ronaldo’s 2008 Ballon d’Or victory voted the “Best of All Time.”
Celebrating the result, the Portuguese star wrote that football belongs to the fans and thanked supporters worldwide, adding that the “Ballon d’Or of All Time” is theirs too.
“Football belongs to the fans! Thank you to all the fans around the world; the Ballon D’Or of All Time is also yours.”
