The House of Representatives has mandated its Joint Committee on Ways, Means and Finance and Health to review a US$200,000 funding request aimed at completing construction and sustaining operations at two healthcare facilities in Nimba County.
The request, submitted by Nimba County District #4 Representative Ernest M. Manseah Sr., seeks the inclusion of the Garplay Health Center and Senlay Clinic in the 2027 National Budget.
Under the proposal, US$150,000 is being requested for the Garplay Health Center in Twah River Administrative District to complete outstanding construction works, including roofing, tiling, electrical installations and plumbing, while providing essential medical supplies.
The remaining US$50,000 is earmarked for the Senlay Clinic to support staff salaries, procure medical equipment and cover routine annual operating costs.
The funding request comes as the two facilities require additional financial support to strengthen healthcare delivery in their respective communities.
Following the submission, plenary instructed the Joint Committee on Ways, Means and Finance and Health to examine the proposal and its accompanying technical documents before reporting back with recommendations for legislative consideration.
The committee’s review will determine the next steps in considering the proposed allocation for inclusion in the 2027 National Budget.
However, the request remains subject to legislative review and consideration, and no final allocation has been confirmed.
