MONROVIA – Liberia’s Minister of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism, Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, has strongly criticized Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele, accusing him of making false prophecies and seeking relevance through political predictions about Liberia.
Speaking on the controversy surrounding Ayodele’s recent pronouncements, Piah questioned the credibility of the cleric, arguing that a true prophet would focus on pressing issues in his own country, including the abduction of schoolchildren in Nigeria.
“That quote-unquote prophet does not even know when he himself will die,” Piah said, adding that there are documented cases of Ayodele making inaccurate predictions.
The Information Minister also suggested that some political actors were relying on prophecies instead of engaging in genuine political campaigning.
“Those who still want power should not campaign and should not even look for money for campaigning. Just lay back, sleep, fold your hands, and wait because, according to this so-called man of God, the presidency already belongs to you,” he remarked.
Piah further alleged that Ayodele benefited from privileged treatment during previous visits to Liberia, including VIP escorts and other favors, which he claimed ended with the departure of the former administration.
“The feast that the prophet and others enjoyed in this country because of their relationship with the leader of the day is gone, and it is gone for good,” Piah declared.
His comments come amid growing debate over Ayodele’s political prophecies concerning Liberia’s future leadership and governance.
