“Rep. James M. Kolleh, House of Representatives Personal staff don’t earn big salaries. That little gas allocation helps us stretch our income and do something for ourselves. Please, stop being wicked; give us our gas slips. We need them…” Mr. Chris Kieh, Legislative Staffer
Speaking to Verity News, Kieh said that they have not received gas for four months now. “How do they expect us to cater for our famlies? How do they expect us to come to work? How do we transport ourselves? This is just more than wickedness. We, too, have our famlies to take care of and children to send to school.”
While each Liberian Lawmaker receives a monthly allocation of over US$2,225 only for gas alone and get it on time, legislative staffers have to struggle for months before getting an allocation between US$49 and US$150 for gas per month.
Representative James M. Kollie is the Chairperson of the House Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration.
This is a developing story.
