Liberian Woman Alleges Brutal Assault Over ‘Chichipoly’ Accusation, Seeks Justice

MONROVIA – A woman identified as Fatumata Kolleh of Sophie Community in Congo Town is calling for justice after she was allegedly assaulted by several individuals who accused her of running “chichipoly” to a man living in the United States.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Verity News, Kolleh recounted a violent ordeal that she said occurred on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, leaving her physically injured and emotionally traumatized.

According to Kolleh, she was at a church where she serves as a teacher when she was informed by Aaronly T. McCoy, whom she identified as the daughter of a pastor, that a woman named Susana Stevenson wanted to see her at her residence.

Kolleh said she followed the invitation and upon arriving at the compound, she encountered individuals identified as Satta and Korsue. She alleged that shortly after entering the premises, the gate was locked behind her and she was attacked.

“They sprayed me with pepper and started beating me,” Kolleh told Verity News. “Susana Stevenson was there while they assaulted me. They accused me of running ‘chichipoly’ to her husband in the United States.”

The victim further alleged that her attackers demanded access to her mobile phone and insisted that she provide her password. When she refused, she said the beating intensified and her phone, along with other personal belongings, was taken from her.

Kolleh claimed that the matter was subsequently reported to the police, but expressed concern that justice may be obstructed due to the alleged influence of one of the accused.

“She told me that nothing would come out of the case because she has connections with Police Director Gregory Coleman and knows many influential people,” Kolleh alleged. “The people who attacked me are still in the community boasting about what happened.”

The victim is now appealing to members of the public, civil society organizations, and law enforcement authorities to ensure that the matter is thoroughly investigated and that those responsible are held accountable.

“I want justice,” Kolleh said. “I am calling on the public to help me fight for justice.”

As of press time, Verity News had not independently verified the allegations and was unable to obtain comments from Susana Stevenson, Aaronly T. McCoy, Satta, Korsue, or officials of the Liberia National Police regarding the claims.

The incident has sparked concern among community residents, with some calling for a full investigation into the allegations of assault, theft, and intimidation.

Verity News will continue to follow developments in the case.
