The Liberia National Police (LNP) Traffic Division in Zwedru has intensified its road safety enforcement campaign, resulting in the arrest and impoundment of more than 31 motorcycles for various traffic violations.
The enforcement action follows a two-week awareness campaign conducted jointly by the LNP and the Grand Gedeh Motorcyclists Union. During the campaign, riders were educated on essential road safety measures, including the mandatory use of helmets, proper footwear, side mirrors, and adherence to other traffic regulations.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief of Traffic of the Liberia National Police Traffic Division, Hassan S. Kamara, warned that traffic offenders will face the full consequences of the law.

”The law is the law. Anyone who violates traffic regulations must be prepared to face the full weight of the law. Road safety is not negotiable,” Kamara declared.
He disclosed that all violators will be issued a fine of US$20, which must be paid to the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). Riders will be required to present an official LRA receipt before their motorcycles are released.
Kamara emphasized that the enforcement exercise is ongoing and will continue until motorcyclists fully comply with established traffic laws and regulations.
”Traffic laws exist to protect lives, not to punish people. A rider without a helmet, proper footwear, or safety equipment is putting both his life and the lives of others at risk.”
”No rider is above the law. Obeying traffic regulations is a responsibility, not a choice.”
The LNP is urging all road users to respect traffic rules and cooperate with authorities as efforts continue to improve road safety across Grand Gedeh County.
