Longtime Stalwart of CDC Former Rep. Solomon George Resigns

Monrovia, Liberia — A former Representative of Montserrado County District #7, and a staunch member of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Solomon C. George has publicly announced his resignation from the party after five years of growing dissatisfaction with its leadership, particularly with the party’s Standard Bearer, Amb. George M. Weah.

Mr. George resignation comes amid claims of betrayal, disrespect, and manipulation from senior party officials.

In a heartfelt letter addressed to Atty. Augustus Janja Kowo, acting Chairman of the CDC, George expressed deep frustration with the current state of the party, which he claims has veered far from its founding principles.

He pointed to internal conflicts and what he referred to as “wicked, ungodly” people who have allegedly infiltrated the party with the sole intention of exploiting the popularity of Amb. George M. Weah for personal gain.

The former Montserrado District#7 Lawmaker criticized the leadership for its lack of transparency, accusing Weah of being insincere and disrespectful during their relationship, stating that the leader’s actions betrayed the values that originally drew him to the CDC.

“Any intelligent person can tell that the Congress for Democratic Change had a formidable formation of brains and force while we were in the opposition than when we were in power,” the letter reads. “Internal wrangling has been the order of the day,” George noted.

One of the most significant grievances highlighted in the resignation letter was the alleged deliberate exclusion and alienation of party members who disagreed with the leadership’s direction.

George claimed to have been blocked from all CDC chat rooms for the past four months and described the experience of being marginalized as a sign of the party’s disregard for true democratic principles.

George’s resignation comes after years of calls for dialogue with party leadership that were reportedly ignored.

In his emotional statement, the one time CDC darling boy lamented that despite expressing concerns, efforts to resolve internal conflicts through a “Come to Jesus” meeting were never realized.

“Amb. George M. Weah had, at most times, lied to me, stabbed me in the back, and pretended as if we were on the same page in doing the right thing for the young people of the party and the country,” the letter highlighted.

The letter, however, closed with a poignant reference to the Bible, quoting Proverbs 6:16-19, which highlights the seven deadly sins that are an abomination to God.

The George asserted that his conscience remained clear, as he had not been tainted by the negative forces they criticized within the party.

In his closing statement the former staunch CDC party member made it clear that his resignation was a result of disillusionment with Weah’s leadership, stating, “I joined the CDC because of Amb. George M. Weah, and I’m leaving the CDC because of Amb. George M. Weah.”

This dramatic resignation is the latest in a series of discontent among members of the CDC, raising questions about the future stability and direction of the party.

The major opposition party faces increasing scrutiny over internal divisions and its capacity to maintain unity amid growing dissatisfaction.

For now, Solomon George stands firm in his decision, vowing to continue advocating for the values he believes in and to challenge what he perceive as the detrimental forces within the CDC.
