On November 25, 2024, the Ministry of Gender, in collaboration with key partners including the Civil Service Agency (CSA) Women’s Association and the Ministry of Health, officially launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The campaign, under the theme “Every 11 Minutes, One Woman Is Killed,” aims to raise global awareness and accelerate efforts to eliminate violence against women and girls.
The campaign runs from November 25 through December 10 and coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Human Rights Day. It serves as a call to action for governments, civil society, and individuals to combat gender-based violence through public education, policy enforcement, and support for survivors.
The Ministry of Gender, as the leading agency, has been instrumental in driving policies and programs aimed at addressing the root causes of GBV in Liberia. With the support of the Ministry of Health and CSA, the campaign also highlights the importance of providing health services to survivors while working towards systemic changes to eradicate violence.
The 16 Days of Activism campaign reflects Liberia’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls, underscoring the collective responsibility to build a safer and more equitable society for all.
