MOH Launches National Health Summit: First Lady Unveils Catchphrase for Maternal and Neonatal Health

Monrovia, Liberia–The Ministry of Health (MOH) has officially launched the National Health Summit, a major platform to assess and accelerate progress in the country’s healthcare sector, with a special focus on maternal and neonatal health.At the heart of the opening ceremony was the unveiling of the summit’s official catchphrase: “

Every Mother Matters, Every Birth Counts,” presented on behalf of the First Lady of Liberia Madam Kartumu Yarta Boakai, who serves as National Champion for Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction.During the launching ceremony held in Oldest Congo Town, Dr. Adam M. Kyne, Senior Advisor and Head of Projects, emphasized that the slogan is not just symbolic, but a driving force for action and accountability across all levels of the health system.

He said this phrase reflects the collective efforts of healthcare workers and stakeholders aim at prioritizing maternal and newborn care across the country.

This phrase reflects our collective promise to prioritize maternal and newborn care in every program, policy, and intervention. It is more than just words—it’s a standard we intend to uphold,” Dr. Kyne declared.

According to him, the winning phrase was selected from a nationwide competition that featured students from 22 schools, with Precious David earning recognition for her inspiring contribution. Her entry, now adopted the Ministry of Health as the official slogan, is expected to guide the rollout of programs and campaigns across the country.

The Ministry revealed that the summit will serve as a collaborative platform for healthcare leaders, government stakeholders, and international partners to reaffirm their commitment to reducing preventable maternal and neonatal deaths and improving overall healthcare delivery in Liberia.The unveiling marks a pivotal moment in the national health dialogue, as Liberia continues to strengthen its healthcare system with targeted policies and people-centered solutions.
