‎More than 500 residents of Nenmenwen Town and surrounding communities in the Gboe/Pole Administrative District, Electoral District #3, Grand Gedeh County, have reportedly been forced to drink from a nearby creek for decades after the community’s only hand pump broke down.

‎Speaking to Verity News, the Town Chief of Nenmenwen, Mr. Othello Zahn Sr., described the situation as a serious public health crisis that continues to endanger the lives of residents, especially children, many of whom are reportedly seeking medical treatment daily due to water related illnesses.

‎Chief Zahn said the town is suffering from total neglect, revealing that the community lacks basic social services, including a school, clinic, town hall, and good road access.

‎According to him, repeated appeals to past and current lawmakers, as well as NGOs, INGOs, and humanitarian organizations, have yielded no results.

‎“We are dying. Our children are not going to school, there is no safe drinking water, no clinic, and the roads are completely bad. How do they expect us to survive in this environment?” the town chief lamented.

‎He made an urgent plea to government authorities and aid organizations to immediately intervene.

‎“People hearing me, please come to our aid. We need a clinic, school, safe drinking water, and good roads,” he appealed.
