NTA Dedicates 20 Mini Buses and Five Cargo Trucks to Boost Transportation Services

Monrovia, Liberia — The National Transit Authority (NTA) has dedicated 20 new mini buses and five cargo trucks as part of efforts to strengthen its transportation capacity and improve the movement of passengers and goods across Liberia.

The vehicles, supplied by ABK Incorporated, are expected to enhance the NTA’s operational capacity and improve the delivery of reliable transportation services to the public.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, NTA Managing Director Edmund Forh said the mini buses will be immediately deployed for special services, including airport shuttle operations and student transportation under special arrangements.

He said the five cargo trucks will be used to support farm-to-market transportation, helping to facilitate the movement of agricultural produce from farming communities to markets.

Managing Director Forh also disclosed that the NTA is implementing an electronic payment system aimed at strengthening revenue collection and reducing cash leakages within the Authority.

According to him, the electronic payment system has been contracted to Labora, a Liberian-owned company, at a cost of US$248,000. He further announced that construction of an NTA data center is currently underway to support the Authority’s digital transformation and revenue management efforts.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Samuel A. Stevquoah, representing President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, congratulated the NTA management and employees for the initiative.

Minister Stevquoah urged the Authority to protect the gains being made and remain committed to delivering reliable and efficient transportation services to the Liberian people.

The dedication of the vehicles is being viewed as a significant step toward improving the efficiency and sustainability of the NTA, which remains a key institution in Liberia’s public transportation sector.

The NTA has also emphasized the importance of proper maintenance and responsible use of the newly acquired vehicles to ensure their longevity and continued contribution to the country’s transportation system.
