MONROVIA– President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr. on Thursday, June 18, honored a team of Liberian students who emerged as champions at the Regional Intellectual Property (IP) Club Competition held in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The students, members of the intellectual property club of Maretha International Preparatory High School, represented Liberia and secured the top position in the continental competition, which promotes innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among secondary school students across Africa.

During a recognition ceremony at the Executive Mansion, President Boakai praised the students for bringing pride to Liberia, describing their achievement as a testament to the talent and innovative potential of Liberian youth. He noted that their success aligns with his administration’s ARREST Agenda, particularly its focus on education, youth empowerment, and innovation.

The President also encouraged young Liberians to pursue excellence in science, technology, and entrepreneurship, stressing that the country’s future depends on the creativity and ingenuity of its youth.

Speaking at the ceremony, Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) Director General Garmia Koboi welcomed the President’s recognition of the students and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting intellectual property education nationwide.

Koboi said the victory demonstrates the value of investing in innovation and intellectual property awareness among young people, preparing them to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
