PUL to Open Book of Condolence for Three Esteemed Journalists

The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) will open a book of condolence this Thursday, February 20 2025, to honor the lives and contributions of three distinguished members who have significantly impacted journalism and media practice in Liberia.

The ceremony will occur at the PUL headquarters on Clay Street, Monrovia, beginning at 10 AM. The book of condolence is dedicated to:

James C. Dennis, Sr. – Founding father of the PUL, and formerly of Daily Listener, Palm Magazine, and the Liberian Star Newspaper.

Samuel Dweh – Formerly of The Daily Observer and Focus Newspapers.

Joseph Cheeseman – Formerly of BBC World Service Trust, Star Radio, and Radio Veritas.

The PUL invites all Union members, representatives from the Government of Liberia, families and friends of the fallen journalists, colleagues in the media, and the general public to come together in remembrance and solidarity during this difficult time.

James C. Dennis, Sr., and Samuel Dweh will be buried separately following their respective funeral services on Saturday, February 22 2025. Meanwhile, Joseph Cheeseman’s interment is scheduled for March 1 2025.  The Press Union of Liberia profoundly mourns the loss of Dennis, Dweh, and Cheeseman and extends heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones.
