Senator Pennie Denounces CDC Disruption Claims as ‘Political Smear Campaign,’ Challenges Accusers to Produce Evidence

‎‎‎‎By D Abraham Cooper sr.‎

Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Sr. has strongly rejected allegations that he or his office played any role in disrupting the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) 22nd Anniversary and Militant’s Day Celebration in Zwedru, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.

‎In a press statement issued on June 24, the Senator’s office categorically denied reports suggesting that he orchestrated or supported efforts to sabotage the CDC event, calling the accusations a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension in Grand Gedeh County.

‎According to the statement, neither Senator Pennue, his staff, nor anyone acting on his behalf interfered with the CDC program. The office emphasized that the Senator remains committed to democratic principles and respects the constitutional rights of all political parties to organize and hold public events without intimidation or obstruction.

‎The statement argued that it would be unreasonable to suggest that a sitting Senator would neglect his legislative responsibilities and ongoing development initiatives—including electrification, education, and infrastructure projects to focus on disrupting a political gathering.

‎Senator Pennue’s office further condemned the circulation of what it described as baseless allegations without evidence, warning that such actions risk undermining peace and fostering political division. The statement maintained that the Senator has consistently worked across party lines and engaged stakeholders from various political backgrounds in pursuit of county development.

‎In one of the strongest portions of the release, the office accused CDC officials in Grand Gedeh County of attempting to shift attention away from what it described as organizational failures surrounding the anniversary celebration.

‎ The statement asserted that the opposition party should take responsibility for shortcomings associated with its event rather than engage in what it termed “blame games.”

‎The Senator’s office also challenged anyone making allegations against him to present credible evidence before both the public and the appropriate legal authorities.

‎“Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Sr. had no role, direct or indirect, in any disruption of the CDC’s 22nd Anniversary and Militant’s Day Celebration,” the statement emphasized.

‎Despite the controversy, Senator Pennue reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Grand Gedeh County and vowed not to be distracted by what his office described as politically motivated attacks.

‎He called on political actors to reject misinformation, preserve peace, and work collectively toward the development and progress of the county.

‎The statement comes amid growing political debate following reports of alleged disruptions during the CDC’s anniversary activities in Zwedru.
