Nimba County, Liberia — Representative Taa Wongbe of Nimba County District #9 has responded to concerns from constituents over alleged underperformance, unfulfilled campaign promises, poor infrastructure and inadequate maintenance across the district.
Wongbe acknowledged that District #9 continues to face serious challenges, particularly concerning roads, but argued that many of the problems predate his tenure as lawmaker.
“Let’s be clear: District 9 has serious challenges, especially our roads, and I have never pretended otherwise,” Wongbe said.
He attributed much of the district’s infrastructure challenges to what he described as decades of neglect by successive national governments, noting that major road development in the area has remained limited.
The lawmaker also addressed an ongoing online rating exercise being conducted by Spoon TV, saying he respects the platform’s right to conduct polls and constituents’ right to participate.
However, Wongbe said online ratings would not determine his performance as Representative.
“Our people will ultimately measure roads, schools, clinics, electricity, opportunities and results,” he said.
