KAKATA, Margibi County — A teenage girl was reportedly gang-raped by three men in the early hours of Monday, September 7, 2026, in the Kpelle Community in Kakata, according to a community source.
A woman, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal, said community members were alerted at about 2 a.m. after hearing the girl screaming and crying for help.
According to the source, the three alleged perpetrators initially fled the scene, leaving behind their motorcycle and the victim, who was reportedly bleeding.
The source said that while a few community members attempted to rescue the girl, the alleged attackers later returned with a larger group armed with machetes. They reportedly overpowered the residents and took away both the motorcycle and the victim to an unknown location.
The source further alleged that police later responded to the incident, but by then the group had already left the scene.
The exact circumstances surrounding the group’s escape and the whereabouts of the victim, who was reportedly bleeding, remain unclear.
