Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – Grand Gedeh County Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue has taken a swipe at the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), welcoming the party’s reported plans to hold its anniversary celebration in Grand Gedeh during the peak of the rainy season.
Speaking in Grand Gedeh, Senator Pennue said the visit would provide CDC members with an opportunity to see the condition of the county’s roads firsthand.
The senator expressed confidence in the road network, declaring that he would resign from office if any vehicle traveling from Monrovia to Grand Gedeh becomes stuck in the mud during the rainy season.
“If anyone travels from here to Grand Gedeh during the rainy season and their vehicle gets stuck in the mud, then I will resign because I would have been proven a liar,” Pennue stated.
He also used the occasion to caution visitors against involvement with illegal drugs, noting the government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign. Pennue said while all Liberians are free to travel to Grand Gedeh, they should be mindful of what they carry into the county.
“We have future leaders in Grand Gedeh, and they should not be corrupted or destroyed by illicit substances,” he said.
