Monrovia, Liberia – An investigation by Verity News has uncovered a disturbing incident of gun violence at Bloom Bar in the early morning hours of June 28, 2025, which has sparked fresh allegations of a police cover-up, following claims that a known deportee fired live rounds during a violent altercation in Sinkor.
Verity News has obtained credible evidence, including videos and pictures, of the incident involving the suspected perpetrator, only identified on Instagram as “Mikey_da_Wapp,” an individual widely reported to have been deported from the United States of America.
The altercation reportedly began around 6:00 a.m. at Bloom Bar, located in the Vamoma area of Sinkor in Liberia, between ‘Mikey_da_Wapp’ along with his crew and a rival street group allegedly led by an individual identified only as “Moore,” alias “the CIC of Sinkor.” As tensions escalated, Bloom Bar’s bouncer, Mekey Diggs, stepped in to de-escalate the situation. During the intervention, “Mikey_da_Wapp” allegedly drew a firearm and randomly discharged two live rounds, one of which hit Diggs in his arm and chest.
According to eyewitness accounts and medical documents reviewed by Verity News, one of the bullets grazed Diggs’ chest before passing through his left arm, causing significant injuries. Medical assessments indicate that Diggs sustained broken bones in his arm and is currently suffering from intense chest pain. He has reportedly been abandoned to recover at home without sufficient medical support, despite doctors recommending advanced surgery.
Sources familiar with deportee Mikey’s activities allege that he frequently roams various clubs across Monrovia at night with firearm, and openly claims to have protection from elements within the Liberia National Police. Multiple sources believe there are ongoing efforts to compromise the case, pointing to Mikey’s continued freedom despite the severity of the incident, the documentary evidence, and the existence of eyewitness testimony.
Since the shooting, the LNP has made no official statement, and there is no public record of any arrest or investigation into the matter. Legal analysts and civil society advocates are raising concerns about the rule of law and potential impunity in cases involving individuals with alleged political or police connections.
Activists and community leaders are now calling for an independent investigation and demanding justice for bouncer Mekey Diggs.
Verity News will release video footage of the shooting and related evidence in its upcoming report.
This latest gun violence in Sinkor raises broader questions about public safety, law enforcement accountability, and access to justice in Liberia.
