“Stop The Hypocrisy “, Doe’s Daughter Veronica Mamie Doe Slams Former President George Weah Over Condolences to Her Late Mother

Veronica Mamie Doe, daughter of the late First Lady Nancy Bohn Doe and former President Samuel K. Doe, has publicly condemned former President George Weah for what she describes as a “hypocritical” condolence message following her mother’s recent passing.

In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday evening, Mamie Doe questioned the sincerity of Weah’s tribute, citing years of what she described as mistreatment and disrespect towards the late Mrs. Doe during his presidency.

“Thank you for your gracious sentiments,” Mamie Doe began, addressing Weah directly. “We were somewhat surprised to learn of your deep sorrow, given how you treated her with such hostility at your first and last meeting, when she humbly begged you not to sack her son at the port.”

Mamie Doe recalled a fraught encounter between Weah and the former First Lady, where she says Weah berated her in front of a large audience, accused her of contributing to his political losses, and dismissed her pleas with humiliating language.

“She stood at the gates of the Executive Mansion, only to be turned away, year after year,” Doe claimed. “All she wanted to ask was what any First Lady deserves: recognition of her 10-year service, her pension, and relief from 20-year-old pending cases.”

According to Doe, her mother was consistently denied access to the presidential office and had her calls blocked by Weah’s Chief of Protocol. She contrasted this with what she said was full support extended to the current First Lady during and after Weah’s term.

The statement also touched on the former president’s relationship with Samuel K. Doe, highlighting what Mamie described as a lack of gratitude for Doe’s past support of Weah’s career.

“You’d sooner praise foreign backers than the very man who pulled you up by your bootstraps,” she wrote. “Why did you hate him so much and yet he loved you too much?”

While acknowledging the condolence message, Mamie Doe expressed deep skepticism over its authenticity.

“It seems someone else must have drafted your letter, for it is hard to believe the man who silenced her cries for help for justice now mourns her absence,” she stated, concluding with a call for divine judgment: “Let the Almighty God judge between you and her.”

As Liberia continues to reflect on the legacy of its former leaders, this public rebuke underscores the enduring tensions and unresolved grievances among the families of past and present administrations.

As of press time, the Office of the Former President has not yet responded to the allegations.
