Lawyers representing former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah, Jr. have formally requested the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT) to reschedule his appearance before the investigative body.
In a letter dated May 19, 2026 and addressed to AREPT Chairman Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, Tweah’s legal team stated that the former minister would not be able to honor the original invitation scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. due to prior professional and personal commitments.
The letter, signed by Cllr. Arthur Johnson, informed the Task Force that Tweah remained willing to cooperate with the investigation and proposed a new appearance date of Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., pending confirmation from AREPT.
“We are pleased to inform you that Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, Jr., shall be available and will appear before the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force on Thursday, May 21, 2026,” the communication stated.
The correspondence comes amid an ongoing investigation linked to the reported US$20.5 million rice subsidy program.
Cllr. Johnson, who signed the letter on behalf of the former finance minister, emphasized their respect for the work of the Task Force and requested understanding regarding the rescheduling.
