UL Faculty Association Elects New Leadership

Monrovia, Liberia — Faculty members at the University of Liberia have elected a new corps of leaders to steer the affairs of their association for the next three years.

Assistant Professor Alhaji S. M. Dukuly, II has been elected President of the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA), securing a decisive victory in polls conducted across the institution’s four campuses on Friday, April 17.

According to official results, Dukuly obtained 311 votes, defeating his closest rival, Dr. George Sorbor, who garnered 164 votes.

Dukuly, who previously served as Vice President for International Affairs under the outgoing leadership of former ULFA President Edna Johnny, campaigned on a platform of continuity. He urged faculty members to build on the achievements of the previous administration while advancing the interests of academic staff.

In his message during the campaign, Dukuly emphasized sustaining progress and strengthening faculty engagement within the university system.

Alongside the presidency, several other positions within ULFA were filled during the elections:

J. Boima Kiazolu was elected Vice President for Administration with 303 votes.

B. Orando Yanquoi secured the position of Vice President for International Affairs with 272 votes.

Eric T. S. Patten won the role of Secretary General, receiving 342 votes.

Smith Peters was elected Assistant Secretary General with 275 votes.

Geetah S. Saydee became Treasurer with 257 votes.

Sammah O. Barolle-Forkeyoh was elected Chaplain with 256 votes.

The elections mark a new chapter for ULFA as the incoming leadership is expected to address key issues affecting faculty welfare, academic standards, and institutional development at the University of Liberia.
