MONROVIA, Liberia — Unity Party stalwart Tee Wonokay Farngalo has sharply criticized President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. over his recent special address on the government’s fight against illicit drug trafficking, describing the speech as “dishonest” and “hypocritical.”
Speaking on Spoon FM, Farngalo, a supporter of the ruling Unity Party, said he was disappointed by the President’s handling of concerns surrounding the ongoing drug investigation.
“As a supporter of the Unity Party, let me be clear, the speech of the president was very dishonest and disgusting,” Farngalo said, accusing President Boakai of hypocrisy.
He argued that allegations against Liberia National Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman, who is reportedly involved in the investigation, should not be dismissed because of his position.
According to Farngalo, the allegations against Coleman have raised serious questions about the credibility and integrity of the investigation, particularly as the drug case continues to attract national and international attention.
“The head of the investigative team is being accused by half of the nation,” he said, adding that Coleman’s continued involvement in the investigation was “disgusting and disappointing.”
Farngalo said the controversy has made it increasingly difficult for him to defend the Boakai administration.
“It’s becoming more difficult and embarrassing to defend the government every other day,” he stated, stressing that he could not defend the government’s handling of the issue.
He urged authorities to address the allegations to restore public confidence in the investigation.
