Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has dedicated the new Business and Domestic Occupational Training Center (BDOTC) Hospitality Training Center, describing it as an important investment in preparing young Liberians for employment in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Speaking at the dedication ceremony on Thursday, Koung said the training center will provide young people with practical skills needed to secure jobs and contribute to the country’s economic growth. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding technical and vocational education as part of its efforts to tackle youth unemployment.
Liberia Tourism Authority Director General Princess Eva Cooper said the facility will help strengthen the country’s tourism industry by producing a skilled workforce capable of improving service delivery and supporting the sector’s growth.
Youth and Sports Minister Cornelia W. Kruah said the center will give young people hands-on training that matches the needs of the job market, helping them transition from the classroom to the workplace.
Alexandre Vial, Country Director of the International Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD), said technical and vocational education remains key to preparing Liberia’s young people for employment and meeting the growing demand for skilled workers in the hospitality industry.
The BDOTC Hospitality Training Center will offer practical training in hospitality management, tourism services, and other related fields, with the goal of producing skilled professionals to support the country’s expanding tourism sector.
