MONROVIA – Former President and Political Leader of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), George M. Weah, has officially declared his intention to contest Liberia’s 2029 presidential election.

Speaking at a party gathering, Weah said he would seek to return to the presidency, alleging that the achievements and sacrifices made during his administration are under threat by the Unity Party-led government.

The declaration marks Weah’s formal entry into the 2029 presidential race as the opposition CDC begins positioning itself for the next general elections.
