MONROVIA – The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Boakai administration, demanding evidence to support Inspector General of Police Gregory Coleman’s allegation that a drug cartel paid members of the media to distort coverage of the ongoing cocaine investigation.
In a statement, the PUL described the claim as reckless and damaging to the credibility of Liberia’s media, stressing that such a serious accusation cannot go unsubstantiated.
The Union noted that the allegation was made during an official government briefing attended by senior security officials, making it a matter of significant public concern.
PUL warned that if the government fails to provide credible evidence within the stipulated period, it will take appropriate action to defend the integrity of the Liberian press.
The Union emphasized that allegations against journalists must be backed by facts to protect public trust and uphold press freedom.
