The Women NGO Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Princess Zuo, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, Bill Jallah, near Duport Road Junction.
According to reports, Zuo was stabbed multiple times by Jallah after ending their relationship. This tragic incident has ignited public outrage, spotlighting the alarming prevalence of gender-based violence in Liberia.
WONGOSOL described the killing as a devastating reminder of the dangers women face, particularly when attempting to leave abusive relationships. Beyond emotional and psychological abuse, women in Liberia are increasingly vulnerable to physical harm and, in cases like Zuo’s, fatal violence.
“The heartbreaking murder of Princess Zuo underscores the urgent need for action to protect women and girls in our country,” WONGOSOL said in a statement.
In response to the tragedy, WONGOSOL has called on the Liberian Government and the Liberia National Police to prioritize the case and ensure swift justice for Zuo and her grieving family. The organization emphasized that such heinous acts of violence must not go unpunished.
WONGOSOL also renewed its call for stronger measures to combat gender-based violence, highlighting that existing efforts by civil society groups are insufficient to address the pervasive issue.
The organization is advocating for increased resources dedicated to supporting victims of violence, including counseling, legal assistance, and conflict resolution programs. It also stressed the importance of nationwide awareness campaigns and early intervention strategies to prevent similar tragedies.
