Prophet Key Calls for Boycott After Disqualification from By-Election

Monrovia – Social media personality Justin Oldpa Yeazehn, popularly known as Prophet Key, has been disqualified from contesting in the Nimba County by-election scheduled for April 22, 2025. Hours after the National Elections Commission (NEC) announced its decision, Yeazehn urged his supporters to boycott the polls.

The NEC ruled Yeazehn ineligible after he allegedly submitted a fake voter registration card during the nomination process. The Commission emphasized its commitment to enforcing electoral laws and maintaining the credibility of the process.

In response, Yeazehn took to Facebook to denounce the decision, claiming it was politically motivated. He accused NEC of intentionally delaying the rejection letter to prevent him from filing an appeal within the required 48-hour period.

“NEC sent me a rejection letter but deliberately failed to email it, knowing I had only 48 hours to respond. My lawyer says I have a strong case, but NEC played a trick on me by withholding the letter,” he wrote.

Yeazehn further alleged that NEC officials refused to provide his representative with a signed copy of the rejection letter while he was in Nimba. He also claimed that NEC Co-Chairperson Cllr. P. Teplah Reeves declined to sign the document, suggesting internal disputes over the ruling.

Despite his disqualification, Yeazehn continues to assert his political influence, declaring himself “the new political godfather of Nimba” and insisting that the election outcome has already been predetermined. His call for a boycott adds further tension to the upcoming by-election.
