On Sunday, March 30, 2025, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, joined forces with Police Inspector General, Col. Gregory Coleman, and other members of the Joint Security in a clean-up campaign aimed at promoting public safety and civic responsibility. The initiative, which kicked off at the ELWA Junction and extended to the GSA area in Paynesville, is part of a broader national effort to improve the cleanliness and safety of urban communities across Liberia.
The clean-up campaign brought together various local authorities, including security personnel from the Ministry of Justice, Police, Military, Fire Service, and other security agencies. Volunteers worked collaboratively to clean up waste, clear drainage systems, and address areas known for heavy foot traffic. The event marked a significant step towards creating a cleaner, safer environment for residents.
Minister Tweh, who led the initiative, emphasized the importance of such efforts in fostering a sense of unity and community among Liberians. “This campaign is not just about cleaning our streets; it’s about showing that when we work together, we can create safer and healthier neighborhoods for everyone. It’s a reminder that we all have a role to play in building a secure and thriving society,” Minister Tweh said.
In addition to improving the physical environment, the clean-up campaign served as an opportunity for local citizens to engage directly with their security forces in a positive and collaborative manner. The event strengthened ties between the community and law enforcement, building mutual trust and encouraging cooperation.
Minister Tweh also highlighted that the clean-up is part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Justice to foster safer, more cohesive communities. The Ministry, along with the Joint Security Forces, is committed to continuing such initiatives to promote public safety, cleanliness, and community responsibility across Liberia.
Upon his arrival, Minister Tweh was welcomed by Col. Gregory Coleman, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, along with other top-ranking officials from the Joint Security. This event marked another step in the ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and civic engagement throughout the country.
