QINGDAO, CHINA – The Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has called for a stronger Liberia-China Economic ties at Qingdao Multinational Summit.
Mr. Koung called for deeper economic cooperation between Liberia and China, while emphasizing the importance of trust, transparency, and shared prosperity in global partnerships.
Addressing Chinese government officials, business leaders, and international delegates, Vice President Koung conveyed greetings from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and highlighted the significance of Liberia’s first high-level participation in the summit.
“This marks a new chapter in Liberia’s engagement with China and the global economic community,” Koung stated. “We are here not just to attend, but to build lasting, results-driven partnerships.”
Exploring New Avenues for Growth
The Vice President expressed appreciation to the city of Qingdao for its hospitality and described it as one of China’s most dynamic coastal hubs, well known for its port infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and growing innovation sectors in green energy, finance, and technology.
He pointed to Shandong Province, where Qingdao is located, as a major player in China’s economy, and expressed Liberia’s interest in leveraging this economic strength for mutual gain.
“While our countries already enjoy a strong economic bond, there is much more we can achieve together,” Koung said. “We are looking to deepen trade ties, encourage joint investments, and create long-term opportunities for both nations.”
Global Challenges, Shared Responsibilities
Acknowledging the backdrop of global uncertainty, from economic instability and climate change to geopolitical shifts and rapid technological transformation, Koung emphasized that global cooperation is not optional but essential.
“In these challenging times, we must rethink how we do business and how we improve livelihoods,” he said. “Multinational collaboration is now a necessity.”
He also stressed that Liberia seeks not just economic benefits, but a partnership rooted in trust, mutual respect, and sustainable development.
