The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has awarded a championship cash prize of US$20,000 to Determine Girls Football Club for winning the 2024/25 LFA Upper Women’s Division League.
The ceremonial check presentation took place on Monday, July 14, at the LFA headquarters in Congo Town. Determine Girls’ President, Grace Weah alias Master Queen, received the prize on behalf of the club from the LFA Secretariat.
This marks the second consecutive year the LFA has maintained the championship prize at US$20,000, a figure that represents significant growth in investment in women’s football. The amount has seen a steady increase from L$550,000 (approximately US$2,750) in 2019 to US$10,000 in 2022, highlighting the LFA’s commitment to raising the profile and competitiveness of the women’s league.
With this latest victory, Determine Girls have earned the right to represent Liberia at the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League ~ for the fifth consecutive year.
In a brief statement, the LFA reaffirmed its dedication to supporting local clubs and promoting football development across all levels, particularly in the women’s game.
Determine Girls’ continued success on both the domestic and regional fronts reflects the growing strength of women’s football in Liberia.
