The Imam Council of Liberia is calling for calm and restraint following a recent incident involving a Muslim woman and a police officer, which has drawn public concern and sparked widespread reactions on social media.
Chief Imam Sheikh Ali Krayee said the Council has engaged in discussions with the Liberia National Police (LNP) and received assurances that the matter will be thoroughly investigated.
“SALAAM TO ALL: We have discussed the unfortunate incident involving the Muslim lady and the police officer with authorities of the Liberia National Police,” Sheikh Krayee stated. “They assured us that the matter will be handled with the seriousness that it deserves. We are therefore calling on all concerned to be calm while we look forward to the outcome of the investigation.”
While details of the incident remain limited at this time, the call for peace comes amid growing public demands for transparency and accountability in the handling of the case.
The Imam Council’s call for calm aims to prevent unrest and encourage the public to allow due process to take its course. Community leaders and human rights advocates are also urging the police to conduct a fair and impartial investigation to maintain public trust.
